WORLDWIDE PRAYER CENACLE ONLINE
Dear Friends,
As chaplain of this website, I'd like to introduce myself to you. I am a Marianist priest. The founder of my religious order was Father William Joseph Chaminade of Bordeaux, France. He was declared blessed by Pope John Paul II in the year 2,000. We need another miracle or two to have him be declared a saint. Lay Sodalists, consecrated to Mary, decided to give up all to follow Jesus and to begin the Society of Mary in 1817. Two memorable quotations of our founder are: "Just as a certain order has taken the name of 'Jesus' and does all in his honor; so we have taken the name of 'Mary"'. The second quote is "May the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary." He had a great devotion to the Immaculate Conception of Mary long before it was declared a dogma of the Church. He also invites us to be the heel of the woman which will crush the head of the serpent. Father Chaminade was always confident that Mary would conquer all heresies. We take a fourth vow of stability which is a promise to give ourselves entirely to Mary for the rest of our lives. What is unique about our society is that we have priests and Brothers living in the same community and that a Brother can be the director of a community. I am living with eight Brothers and another priest at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas. Our Religious order specializes in education so we have mostly high schools. We run Dayton U. in Dayton Ohio; St. Mary U. in San Antonio, Texas and Chaminade U. in Honolulu. I retired as a counselor at the Central Catholic High School three years ago. Right now I am very active with the Spanish-speaking Marriage Encounter Community in San Antonio. I also travel all over the United States giving Marriage Encounter weekend retreats. During the week I have an English Cenacle that meets every other Tuesday, a Spanish Cenacle every Wednesday and one with shut-ins once a month. I encourage the couples that I work with to form a Cenacle in their homes. That is all for now. May the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Rev.
